Looks like my king season will be from late may to June 11th.  However, I will be sending my clients to other trust worthy guides for the remainder of the season.  I put clients in boats that I personally would charter with so you should be in good hands.

My kids raced this last weekend at the Big Lake festival.  Saturday Rhett took 1st in the 3-4 year old class and Ema took 2nd in the 8-10 year old class.  On Sunday they raced in the Iron Pup after all the Iron Dog racers started.  I raced with Rhett and Travis raced with Ema.  Rhett took 3rd and Ema did not place.  There were about 25 kids racing.  Good times and kids loved the big crowds of people.  Rhett had a photo finish winning by less than a snowmachine length.  Ema was way more focused on giving high fives and waving to the crowd when she crossed the finish line. 

I also bought a 2008 Skidoo Tundra 550F.  My first nice sled.....Thanks to Bill Booth.

I talked to Dave Rutz today trying to get some clarification on the new regulations.  The only thing he told me different was that the catch and release could be Monday through Thursday instead of Tue-Thu.  Who knows.  He said it should be a couple more weeks before they get them in writing.  I do plan to call Sam Ivy when he returns to the office sometime next week.

It is likely there will be some new regulations for kings on the Little Susitna this year.  Nothing is in writing as of yet but here is what they are.  For the Little Su--Single hook only, Yearly bag limit of 2 instead of 5 per year and catch and release only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  I also would suggest fishing before June 18th.  They could also close the river around that date like they did last year.  Until we get a good king run in there they will always be looking to close the river due to lack of fish.

I do plan on guiding on all days of the week as long as clients know what the regulation is at that time.

Well, Travis and I pulled our traps and caught 2 more Lynx.  They both were snared and decent size.  We put some traps out at the island but no luck yet.

The kids raced there first snow cross race last weekend and did ok.  Rhett took 4th and Ema took 5th.  Not sure which races the kids like better all is fun.

We set some traps at the island again just like last year but hoping to have a bit more success.  We seen some tracks out there but haven't put out all the bait yet.

The kids raced again this weekend and did well.  Ema rode Rhetts machine and took 1st place.  Don't know if I'll be able to get her back on hers.

There are a lot of talk around the fishing community about what to do about the upcoming fishing season around the Mat-su area.  There has been poor king runs for the last 5 years and something needs to be done.  Hopefully we will have some more appropriate restrictions on rivers that are lacking salmon.

On another note, my kids have been in 3 snowmachine races so far this year and have been doing really well.  The only downfall is that they both want to go faster and that cost money.......

Rhett and I set up some traps at the island to hopefully catch something.  We don't have very many but hopefully set up a few more in the future.  They also canceled the races for the kids because of slick roads. 

T N T and I checked our traps  last wed. and caught a Wezzle, a rabbit, and 3 black birds.  Hopefully next time will be more successful.
