I would say next weekend we would have more of about the same luck as we had this weekend, hopefully better. I would still suggest bank fisherman and boaters to give it a try. Another option would be to launch at the Susitna Landing and try other rivers flowing into the Big Susitna. Also, bank fisherman could have good luck at Sheep Creek.
At the Kashwitna River this weekend it was ok fishing. Saturday morning we caught 5 kings. In the afternoon we caught 1 and lost 2 others. Sunday morning we caught 1 and the afternoon we lost one and caught a rainbow. Monday morning we caught 2 and lost 2 in the first 2 hours of fishing then never had another bite.

Yesterday, they announced the Little Su will close Friday June 17th at 11:00pm. If you have a trip booked before July 4th for a drop off or a guided trip and haven't contacted me please do so we can make other arrangements. 907-244-0607
The fishing has been good since my last post. We are starting to see the the 20 lb hens entering the river. When this happens this means the bulk of the King Salmon are through the river and we will start seeing a drop in the number of fish people will be catching each day. Even though we have had the best King Salmon run in 3 years, Sam Ivey (fish and game biologist), has decided to close the river in an effort to keep more Kings in the river to spawn. If anyone would like to voice their opinion or get information about possible closures on other rivers you can call Sam at 746-6334. I will be guiding trips this weekend at the Kashwitna River. This river has been known for catching Kings and producing big fish. This river can also be fished from the bank with waders. I would suggest local fisherman to give it a try. Also, for boat fisherman, the mouth of Little Willow Creek early in the morning is a hot spot this next weekend if you’re looking to avoid the crowds. Directions to the Kashwitna River will be on the Map link of my website. I have been guiding clients everyday since the last post. We have been catching about 2 fish per trip in the last week. Today we caught 2 kings with 3 people fishing.
If you plan on booking a guided or drop off trip I suggest you do it soon as we are filling up fast and do not have many dates left. Today we fished the Deshka and caught 2 king salmon. There were many people around us also catching salmon. All the fish we saw caught were no bigger than 25lbs and an average of about 15-17. I will be fishing the Little Su tomorrow afternoon. Check back for a report.
The water still remains high and muddy and tough to catch a fish. Guides on the river are still fighing to get one fish in the boat a trip. We are seeing many moose a trip though. We seen 7 moose today with some being right next to the river. I will be trying to fish the Deshka tomorrow. Check back for an update.
Clients never showed up for fishing today. I still got to make the trip worth it, and went out fishing with my mom. We fished for about 2 hours with no bites. There were 3 other guide boats, and no one caught a fish this morning. Going back out tomorrow, hopefully
