Today I fished with 2 clients, mom and a family friend, Brian. We ended up catching 20 fish total with each client keeping their limit of fish. We released many chum and a few pinks. Not bad considering really high water and a guide who forgot his net and had to creat a gaft hook out of the boat brush some wire and a big snagging hook (thanks to Brian's idea). we were done fishing by 9:30 or so. I do expect it to be difficult to catch silvers again tomorrow but friday should be easy again (depending on weather).
Today I fished 2 clients and my mom. We caught 10 silvers, 4 chum and about 6 pinks. We fish from 12pm and had our limit by about 2:30pm. The water is not too high or dirty which was a little surprising due to all the rain we have been having. I do believe the river will rise (about 1 foot by wed of this week). It will make the fishing a little tougher but with the know how of how to fish high water, catching fish should not be a problem. I'll post pic's later when my dumb phone will send them to my email.
I did another fishing trip a few days ago and limited on silvers also. Silver fishing this year is good and I do expect to limit out on most if not all client fishing trips this silver season. Book now for some of our last openings of the year.
I also fished Seward again for 1 tide and caught a few Silvers and lost one Butt. Fun times but not real productive this time.
Since my last post at the end of king season, I have been doing a lot of camping and fishing down south. It is that time of year for dip netting and trying to sleigh the reds which we have not been able to do yet but hopefully sooner than later we will get to go. I have fished Deep Creek for 4 days and Seward for 3 more consecutive days. We caught about 7 halibut, 3 gray cod, 2 yellow eye and 2 silvers. All these fishing trips were done using my dad's 12 foot raft with a 15 hp prop and launching the boat with the wheelers. We used salmon set up's and had a little help from my Deep Creek Guide Arther with A fishunt.
Yesterday my friends Pj and Claudia treated me to a guided combo trip out of Seward with Capt. Nate of Puffin Charters. We caught our limit of 2 20-35 lbs butts and 3 silvers a piece. I caught 6 flounders, 1 cod, 2 butts and 3 silvers. I have not been on a halibut trip since I was a kid and was expecting to chum the water all day but the sea's were nice and calm which made for an enjoyable trip.
A few days ago Bill (one of the other guides) and I went on a 42 mile wheeler ride. The picture posted below is of a baby muskrat Bill caught with his hands. It was an enjoyable trip with lots of fun (all but the bent rear rack, bent front rim and a few bruises on my back).
Today I had my first guided silver trip on the Little Su. Back to work I guess. I had three humorous F-15 pilots that went out with me last year also. They each caught their limit of silver salmon fishing from 8am to 10am. We were more productive than I thought perhaps due to the skill level of the fisherman I had (a big THANKS from me) Although the best part of the trip was by far the story telling (water snake, anchor still down, ran out of gas and to top it all off, Tko even majorly screwed up a potential great joke). Great time, even in the rain!!
Book now while the silvers are in and the people are not. If you can't fish with me due to your schedule give me a call and I will try to fish you at night or whenever I can.
