Not sure I told the story but here goes anyway. Me and dad went out to winterize the island this year after it had been raining hard for about 2 weeks straight. Well, the rain filled that 18 foot boat and sunk it. Luckily dad had a mini excavator out there and we tied a rope onto the front and pulled it up the bank as far as we could. Then he took the excavator and pushed it back as fast as he could so it was in deep water as I jumped onto the bow and it leveled it out and floated barley. Then we just ran 2 electric pumps and I had a 5 gallon bucket to dish the water out so we could put it away for the winter. Water did get into the motor but dad was able to fix it so it still runs.
Last sunday, we went to check the traps with the wheelers with tracks. It was -10 at the truck so we figured it would be -20 in Cold Valley (a valley we nicknamed that we catch most animals in) and it sure felt like it as we started getting cold there. After we checked the Cold Valley traps we were excited because we just missed a fox in both our traps. It came right up to each trap and turned away. About 20 feet from TNT's and 4 feet from mine. So we wanted to get across this creek to set a few more traps. The creek wasn't quite froze all the way but in parts it looked good. I crossed one place and it was fine but when I went to cross the next part (looked froze solid) and the front tracks broke it but made it across and the rear tracks got caught under the ice ledge. When I tried backing up the rear tracks couldn't make it backwards up the broken ice either. So we had to cut down some 4 foot trees to stick under the tracks so we can back up out of the stream. You can see the right rear track is stuck in an odd position. That froze up like that and I had to jump on it several time for it to break free. I always said your not riding hard unless your getting stuck.......
The little white weasel looking thing is a Ermine. We catch them a lot. They are white with a half black tail. We got one mounted also. Kinda neat.
The can't-am (that's what I call it) is TNT's new ride this year and the ford is also his. Really nice and since we split gas it's better to drive that then my gas hog.
